ANNUAL AND QUARTERLY REPORTS

Freshwater Fish is required to submit an annual audited report to the appropriate Minister and the President of the Treasury Board. The appropriate Minister then tables the report in Parliament within the first fifteen days on which the House is sitting after it is submitted. The Standard on Quarterly Financial Reports for Crown Corporations issued by the Treasury Board of Canada requires Freshwater Fish to prepare quarterly financial reports. SUMMARY OF THE CORPORATE PLAN

As a Crown Corporation, Freshwater Fish is required to submit a corporate plan to the appropriate Minister for the approval of the Governor in Council. The full plan is a privileged document, however, a condensed summary is available and is as follows:

SPECIAL EXAMINATION REPORT

As specified in the Financial Administration Act (FAA), Freshwater Fish is required to maintain financial and managerial control, information systems, and management practices that provide reasonable assurance that:

its assets are safeguarded and controlled; its financial, human, and physical resources are managed economically and efficiently; and its operations are carried out effectively.

The FAA also requires the Corporation to have a special examination of these systems and practices carried out at least once every ten years. The most recent reports are as follows:

ACCESSIBIILTY PLAN

At FFMC, we recognize that people with disabilities are equal participants in all areas of life. Our goal is to identify, remove and prevent barriers to help achieve a barrier-free Canada by 2040. FFMC has developed its first Accessibility Plan to meet its responsibilities under the Accessible Canada Act. Our plan outlines the barriers that exist in the FFMC and identifies the steps that we will take to remove them over the next three years.

2024 REPORT – FIGHTING AGAINST FORCED LABOUR AND CHILD LABOUR IN SUPPLY CHAINS ACT

This report has been prepared pursuant to the Fighting against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (the Act) and sets out the measures taken by the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation (FFMC, or the Corporation) during the 2024 fiscal year ending on April 30, 2024 to prevent and reduce the risk of forced labour or child labour in our operations and supply chain. FFMC recognizes that risks of forced labour and child labour (referred to as modern slavery) exist and acknowledge that understanding and managing these risks requires collaboration with our suppliers, fish harvesters, our employees, and other external stakeholders.

 

TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY EXPENSES

The following proactive disclosures provide information on the travel and hospitality expenses incurred by Board members and senior leadership.

The rules and principles governing travel are outlined in the Corporation’s Policy on Travel, Hospitality, Conferences and Events. The purpose of this policy is to provide for the reimbursement of reasonable expenses necessarily incurred during travel on Freshwater Fish business.

The Corporation extends hospitality in accordance with the rules and principles outlined in its Policy on Travel, Hospitality, Conferences and Events. The objective of the policy is to ensure that hospitality is extended in an economical and affordable way when it facilitates Freshwater Fish’s business or is considered desirable as a matter of courtesy and protocol.

The proactive disclosures are updated each month to include information on travel and hospitality expenses for the previous month.
